Search engine optimization is one of the most common ways to drive traffic to your website. When you create a site, you have to get interested visitors to it or else it doesn't make sense to run it. The thing about traffic from the search engines is it's free, which is great, and it also has a tendency to convert very well to offers. There are two problems with most beginner, and some experienced, marketers, and that is they either have a poor understanding of SEO, or they don't have any at all. The only thing they know is they want rankings now, and they don't think about anything else. Here's one that is being seen less, but still done, and that's creating flash websites. However, there's no disputing the fact that Flash sites can look really impressive to people. Don't make the mistake of spreading your content over many different domains. It's true that sometimes it's more logical to publish content on a sub-domain or separate domains. However, if there is little reason for it from the user's viewpoint, then you should avoid it. Trying to occupy the search engine results with multiple domain names doesn't really work out too well. Instead, focus on making your main URL worthy, and have the search engines see it as authority site. You should be well aware of the pros and cons of using lots of sub-domains or additional ones.
